About Fogos.pt
Fogos.pt is one of the main sources of information about wildfires in Portugal, providing near real-time data.
The platform was originally developed by João Pina, and is now operated by VOST Portugal, which ensures the integration, processing and publication of information to the public and operational entities, under the technical leadership of João Pina, also a founder of VOST Portugal.
More than an aggregator, Fogos.pt works as an integration layer that transforms complex data into clear, useful and actionable information.
Data origin and processing
The information results from the combination of multiple official and technological sources, including:
Authorities
- ANEPC – Portuguese National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority
- ICNF – Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests
- AGIF – Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires

- Copernicus, NASA, Meteosat and Mapbox
Other complementary sources
- Waze and OSINT contributions by VOST Portugal volunteers
All data is integrated, processed and validated by VOST Portugal, including verification, normalisation and operational contextualisation processes.
